A plain-English explanation of what information this website collects, why, and how we look after it.

We collect as little personal information as we can, we use it only for the purpose you gave it to us, and we never sell it or share it for marketing. We aim to follow the Australian Privacy Principles even where the law does not strictly require a parish of our size to do so.
If you subscribe to parish news we collect your email address and, if you choose to give them, your first name, surname, mobile number, patron saint and name day. We use these only to send you parish news, service reminders and feast-day greetings. The list is stored securely by our email provider, Mailchimp, which may process it outside Australia. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time.
The booking and prayer-request forms on this site open an email in your own email app, addressed to the parish. Whatever you send arrives as an ordinary email to our sacraments team or clergy and is used only to arrange the service you asked for or to remember the names you gave in prayer. Names submitted for prayer are treated as confidential by our clergy.
Donations are made through Square, a third-party payment service. We never see or store your card details. Square's handling of your information is covered by Square's own privacy policy.
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Wix) keeps standard technical logs, such as the pages requested and the type of device used, to run the site securely and to show us general visitor statistics. We do not use advertising cookies. The map on our Contact page is provided by Google Maps, and the site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts; these services may set their own cookies, as described in Google's privacy policy. The calendar on this site reads public service times from our own database and does not identify you.
Only the service providers named above, and only so they can provide their service to us: Mailchimp (email), Square (donations), Wix (website hosting) and Google (maps and fonts). We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with any other organisation unless the law requires it.
Where a form concerns a child, for example a baptism, the information is given to us by a parent or guardian and used only to arrange that sacrament.
Photographs on this website are the property of the parish. If you appear in a photograph on the site and would like it removed, please contact us and we will take it down.
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email secretary@stnektariosfawkner.org.au or call (03) 9359 4404. If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
